Pakistani Drones Hit Firozpur– Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, multiple cities across Northern India were plunged into darkness on Friday night following a series of Pakistani drone attacks and airspace violations. The escalating military standoff has left civilians rattled, with injuries reported, infrastructure damaged, and border districts under strict blackouts.
Pakistani Drones Hit Firozpur, Three Injured in Residential Attack
In a disturbing escalation, a Pakistani drone struck a residential area in Punjab’s Firozpur district at around 10 PM, injuring three civilians from a single family. The victims have been rushed to a nearby hospital, and their condition remains under observation. Emergency services were on high alert as explosions rocked the otherwise quiet locality.
Eyewitnesses reported a loud explosion followed by thick smoke. “It was terrifying. We heard sirens, and then everything went dark. The blast shook our entire street,” said a local resident.
Explosions Light Up Jammu and Kashmir Skies Amid Sirens and Panic
Earlier in the evening, multiple loud blasts echoed across Jammu, Samba, and Pathankot, with Indian air defence systems intercepting Pakistani drones in the night sky. Red streaks lit up the blackout-struck cities as sirens blared, prompting residents to rush indoors.
A total blackout was enforced in Akhnoor, Udhampur, and the entire Kashmir Valley, with residents asked to switch off all lights and stay indoors. The Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah, appealed for calm, urging people to avoid unverified rumours and cooperate with authorities.
“We understand the fear and confusion, but staying indoors and refraining from spreading rumours is crucial for everyone’s safety,” said Abdullah in a late-night address.
Pathankot, Amritsar, Tarn Taran Also Targeted
Pathankot saw intense action around 8:45 PM as Indian air defence units engaged incoming drones, lighting up the sky with gunfire and interceptive blasts. Similar scenes played out in Tarn Taran, where 20–25 aerial explosions were reported as BSF camps came under threat for the first time since the conflict erupted.
Amritsar, too, experienced a tense evening with nearly 20 explosions shaking the city, leaving residents panicked and emergency services stretched.
Blackouts Spread Across Border States
In a coordinated move to minimize visibility to enemy drones, blackouts were enforced in:
- Punjab: Firozpur, Tarn Taran, Amritsar
- Jammu and Kashmir: Jammu city, Kashmir Valley, Udhampur, Akhnoor, Rajouri
- Haryana: Ambala, Panchkula
- Rajasthan: Jaisalmer, Barmer, Bikaner, Sri Ganganagar, Phalodi
Markets in Jaisalmer and Barmer shut by 5 PM, with a strict 12-hour blackout from 6 PM to 6 AM.
India Retaliates: Drone Strikes on Pakistani Defence Sites
The Indian armed forces responded decisively to Pakistani provocations. According to Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, India launched armed drones at four Pakistani air defence sites, destroying at least one radar installation. Heavy artillery shelling was also reported across the Line of Control (LoC).
Colonel Sofiya Qureshi revealed that over 300–400 Turkish-origin drones were used by Pakistan to attempt infiltration at 36 locations. Most of these were neutralized by Indian forces using kinetic and non-kinetic measures.
High-Level Security Meetings Held by Modi, Rajnath, Shah
In Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi convened an emergency meeting with the three service chiefs and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. Home Minister Amit Shah also reviewed border security and airport safety with senior officials, including heads of the BSF, CISF, and intelligence agencies.

Amid the unfolding conflict, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) has been indefinitely postponed on the directive of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Meanwhile, the IMF approved a $2.3 billion bailout for Pakistan, with India abstaining from the vote, citing Islamabad’s “poor track record.”
Media Advised to Avoid Real-Time Reporting of Military Operations
The Indian Ministry of Defence issued an advisory to all news outlets to refrain from live or real-time coverage of military movements, referencing past incidents like the Kargil War and 26/11 attacks to stress the risks involved.
