According to official reports, Om Prakash’s wife, Pallavi, informed the police about the incident. Senior police officials rushed to the scene immediately after receiving the alert at around 4:30 PM. The police found signs of a violent physical assault and confirmed that a weapon had been used, resulting in significant blood loss.

Autopsy and FIR Underway

The body of the former Director General of Police (DGP) has been sent for post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death. Additional Commissioner of Police Vikash Kumar Vikash told reporters that Om Prakash’s son filed a formal complaint, and a First Information Report (FIR) is being registered to proceed with the investigation.

“We are treating this as a case of unnatural death with clear signs of assault. The presence of blood and injuries indicates possible homicide, but we will confirm once the medical reports arrive,” Vikash stated.

Family Under Scrutiny

In a surprising twist, police officials have begun interrogating Om Prakash’s wife and daughter, suspecting the involvement of someone within the family. As per a Hindustan Times report, early evidence has led police to believe that someone close to the deceased may be involved in the tragic incident.

Adding more complexity to the case, Om Prakash had reportedly shared concerns about his safety with close associates in recent months, according to PTI.

A Distinguished Career Cut Short

Born in Champaran, Bihar, Om Prakash was a 1981 batch IPS officer who held a Master’s degree in Geology. Known for his integrity and dedication to duty, he was appointed as Karnataka’s Director General of Police (DGP) on March 1, 2015. He retired with honor but remained active in community and advisory roles.
