Her father, Krish Chilukuri, is a respected lecturer in the Department of Aerospace Engineering at San Diego State University, while her mother, Lakshmi Chilukuri, is a professor of molecular biology and serves as the Provost of Sixth College at the University of California, San Diego.

Usha and JD Vance met during their time at Yale Law School, where their shared academic interests laid the foundation for a powerful partnership. Usha is a highly accomplished litigator who has clerked for Chief Justice John Roberts of the U.S. Supreme Court and Judge Brett Kavanaugh, then of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
In addition to her law degree from Yale, she holds a bachelor’s degree from Yale University and a master’s from the University of Cambridge, where she was honored as a Gates Cambridge Scholar.
