India’s largest airline, IndiGo, is preparing to make history by becoming the first carrier to launch commercial operations from Noida International Airport. The airline announced that its flights from the newly built airport will begin on 15 June, marking a significant milestone for aviation connectivity in northern India.
The new airport at Jewar is expected to play a major role in easing the pressure on Delhi’s main aviation hub, Indira Gandhi International Airport, while also improving travel access for millions of people living in western Uttar Pradesh and nearby regions. Once operations begin, the airport will become the third airport serving the National Capital Region (NCR), alongside IGI Airport and Hindon Airport.
IndiGo said it plans to gradually introduce flights from Jewar to more than 16 destinations across India. The network will include both large metro cities and emerging regional destinations, helping passengers travel more conveniently without having to pass through heavily crowded airports.
Among the first routes planned from the airport is a service linking Lucknow, Noida and Bengaluru. According to the airline’s initial schedule, flight 6E 2278 will depart Lucknow at 7:05 AM and arrive at Noida at 8:05 AM. The same aircraft will then continue its journey, leaving Noida at 8:35 AM and reaching Bengaluru at 11:05 AM.
For the return journey, flight 6E 2279 will take off from Bengaluru at 3:45 PM, land in Noida at 6:20 PM, and then continue onward to Lucknow, arriving at 8:00 PM.
Over time, IndiGo plans to add flights from Noida International Airport to several other cities including Chandigarh, Amritsar, Dharamshala, Jaipur, Pantnagar, Srinagar and Hyderabad. These connections are expected to strengthen regional travel and create new opportunities for tourism and business.
Speaking about the development, IndiGo’s Chief Strategy Officer Aloke Singh said the airline is pleased to start operations from the new airport, calling it an important addition to the NCR’s aviation network. He highlighted that large metropolitan regions across the world often operate multiple airports to handle growing passenger traffic, and the NCR is now moving in the same direction.
Strategically located along the Yamuna Expressway, the airport is expected to serve as a major gateway for travelers from cities and districts across western Uttar Pradesh. Improved road and planned rail connectivity will also make it easier for passengers from surrounding regions to access the airport.
Noida International Airport is one of India’s biggest greenfield airport projects and has been designed to support both domestic and international operations in the future. Once fully developed, it is expected to become a key aviation hub that will support economic growth, tourism, and infrastructure development in the Delhi-NCR region.
With IndiGo leading the first phase of operations, the airport’s launch is being seen as a major step toward expanding India’s aviation capacity and improving connectivity for millions of travelers across the country.
