Mahakumbh 2025: With the grand Mahakumbh slated for 2025, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asked all encroachments to be removed in Prayagraj so that the city is completely ready for the religious extravaganza. At a review meeting, he underlined the safety and convenience of every pilgrim, be it Indian or foreign, is the government’s priority. He stressed the need for comprehensive disaster management, cyber security, fire safety, riverfront security, and emergency medical systems to be strengthened for the duration of the Kumbh.
The Chief Minister made it clear that all security agencies must remain active 24/7 during the Mahakumbh to ensure a smooth and secure event. He also highlighted the importance of enhancing intelligence capabilities and implementing anti-drone systems to ensure public safety. Yogi Adityanath asked the authorities to detect and penalize the bogus websites and apps that are using Mahakumbh for such frauds. He also called upon the citizens to be alert and aware of such frauds.
Dealing with Fake News and Safety Arrangements
During the meeting, CM Yogi also instructed the authorities to regulate fake news on social and digital media which might hamper the image of Mahakumbh. He said that the people or groups who were spreading false propaganda or trying to defame the event should be appropriately countered. The Chief Minister also issued directives for faster police verification of street vendors, auto-rickshaw, and e-rickshaw drivers so that everything could be conducted smoothly during the event. He also called for well-organized traffic management systems on all inter-district routes leading to Prayagraj.
Infrastructure and Logistics for a Successful Mahakumbh
CM Yogi was briefed about the preparation underway by officials. The allotments of lands have been finalized to key institutions in the name of the respected Akhadas and other institutions while the rest allocations for the newly proposed institutions have been going on. Officials informed him that the requisite resources were being provided as sought by the institution.
The Chief Minister was happy with the developments and emphasized the need to respect the sentiments of the saints and sadhus. He directed the officials to maintain constant communication with the religious leaders for smooth management of the event.
Logistics wise, 550 shuttle buses will operate during the Mahakumbh, with services starting from January 5. Arrangements for the elderly, differently-abled, and women will also be made for easy transportation. Moreover, CM Yogi announced that helicopters would shower flowers on the six major bathing festivals of the Mahakumbh. All the preparations for this ceremonial event are in place.
Infrastructure Development and Cleanliness Drives
The officials presented the Chief Minister with the latest developments in infrastructure development for Mahakumbh. So far, the following have been completed:
- 28 pontoon bridges
- 520 km of ring roads
- 610 signages
- 494.30 km of drinking water pipelines
- 304 km of GI pipes for water supply
- 4270 drinking water stand posts
- Over 176 km of drainage systems
- 54,700 street lights
- 206 electricity substations
Additional hospitals, including Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital, Motilal Nehru Hospital, and so many more, have already booked 3,305 beds for the event. The riverfront roads, thematic lighting, and sanitation arrangements have already been done, with more than 90,000 toilets being put in place across the city.
CM Yogi has appealed to all residents, saints, and the general public to cooperate with the authorities to achieve a ‘Clean Mahakumbh, Clean Prayagraj.’ He urged officials to ensure that all encroachments are cleared from Prayagraj before the Mahakumbh begins, launching a focused campaign to remove any illegal occupation.
