Bengaluru, February 9, 2026: A disturbing family dispute in Bengaluru has escalated into a police investigation after a woman accused her 23-year-old daughter of secretly clicking and sharing her private photo with the daughter’s alleged lover. The case has brought sensitive questions of consent, trust, and digital privacy into focus.

According to police officials, the mother approached the authorities alleging that her daughter took private photographs of her and another female relative without their knowledge or permission. The woman claimed these images were later shared with a man the daughter was in contact with.

As per the complaint, the daughter had earlier requested a mobile phone from her parents, stating that it was required for her studies. Around a month ago, family members reportedly noticed her frequently speaking to an unknown man, raising suspicion.

The situation allegedly took a serious turn when the mother checked her daughter’s phone and claimed to have found private photographs of herself and another family member. The complainant alleged that the images were taken secretly and later shared without consent.

Police sources said the man with whom the images were allegedly shared is the same person the daughter married a few weeks ago. Following the complaint, a case was registered and an investigation was launched.

The mobile phones of both the daughter and her husband have been seized and sent for forensic examination. Senior police officials said investigators are examining all possible angles and that the facts will become clearer once the forensic reports are received.

Officials added that statements of family members are being recorded and relevant legal provisions related to privacy violations and misuse of electronic devices are being reviewed. At this stage, no arrests have been made.

The case has once again highlighted growing concerns around digital misuse within households and the importance of consent, even among close family members. Police have urged citizens to report any form of digital exploitation and assured that strict action will be taken if the allegations are proven.

The investigation is currently ongoing.
