The encounter took place earlier this week and had left him with three bullet wounds in the abdomen, which later caused severe complications.

During an emergency operation, doctors were forced to remove his gallbladder and a portion of his large intestine. Despite being shifted to the Intensive Critical Care Unit (ICCU), his condition remained critical, and he could not be declared out of danger in the last 24 hours.

One of the bullets had pierced his liver and lodged in his back. Due to its delicate position, doctors decided to leave the bullet in place. The heroic officer was admitted to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, where he battled for his life before succumbing to his injuries.

Inspector Sunil Kumar was a dedicated officer with a commendable service record. Notably, he had received an out-of-turn promotion from Head Constable to Sub-Inspector for his valor during the infamous Thokia encounter.
