UP Budget 2025-26: UP Budget of ₹8.87 Lakh Crore, Over 9% Higher Than the Previous Budget

UP Budget 2025-26 : Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Suresh Khanna on Thursday, February 20, 2025, tabled the state’s Budget for the financial year 2025-26. This is his sixth budget in a row, with a total outlay of Rs 8.08 lakh crore, which is 10 per cent higher than the last fiscal’s Rs 7.36 lakh crore.

The Finance Minister stressed that the budget is preoccupied with research, development, and Information Technology. The key sector-wise allocations are:

• 22 per cent of the budget to developmental projects.
• 13 per cent for education.
• 11 per cent for agriculture and related services.
• 6 per cent to healthcare initiatives.

Among the budget’s many key points, the construction of four new expressways to increase connectivity and boost the state’s economic growth rate stands out prominently. The state’s road network will be beefed up with an aim towards better transportation in the state by the government.

In a major step to promote merit girl students, the state government has decided to distribute scooties. It will promote higher education and empower young girls by facilitating better mobility and access to schools and colleges.

The budget also proposes modernization of schools and polytechnics, such as smart class and sophisticated laboratory facilities, to ensure quality education in the state.

The government has also proposed the development of an Artificial Intelligence City and a specialized Cyber Security Research Park. These initiatives are part of a broader effort to position Uttar Pradesh as a leader in technological advancements and research-driven growth.

A part of the budget has also been earmarked for the upgrading of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, which will witness the coming on board of cutting-edge infrastructure to upgrade legislative procedures and productivity.

At the start of his address, Suresh Khanna emphasized the significance of the Maha Kumbh 2025, calling it not only a religious and cultural festival but also a rare astronomical phenomenon that reflects India’s ancient religion and cultural harmony. The government has made significant financial arrangements to make this event a grand success.

The UP Budget 2025-26 highlights the emphasis of the state government on infrastructure, education, technology, and women empowerment. Following high allocations in major sectors, the budget is intended to speed up the growth graph of Uttar Pradesh while providing social and economic growth to citizens.
