Chhattisgarh: In a shocking development, the suspect in the brutal stabbing case of Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has been apprehended by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) at Durg Railway Station. Identified as Aakash Kailash Kannojia, 31, the suspect was detained on Thursday afternoon as he alighted from the Mumbai-Howrah Jnaneswari Express.
The actor was stabbed multiple times in the early hours of Thursday when an intruder broke into his Bandra residence. The attack left the 54-year-old actor with severe injuries, including stab wounds near his neck and spine.
According to RPF officials, the Mumbai Police provided crucial information, including the suspect’s photo, train number, and cell phone location. The RPF teams stationed at Rajnandgaon and Durg Railway Stations acted swiftly.
“When the train stopped at Rajnandgaon, our team searched for him but couldn’t locate the suspect. At Durg, two teams were prepared, and he was eventually found in the front general compartment,” an RPF official stated. Mumbai Police confirmed his identity and are now en route to take him into custody.
This arrest comes days after a mistaken detention led to the release of another individual. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis assured Mumbai residents that the police were working tirelessly to apprehend the real attacker. Over 30 police squads have been deployed, and at least 15 people have been interrogated as part of the investigation.
Medical staff at Lilavati Hospital confirmed that Saif Ali Khan is recovering well. Initially admitted to the intensive care unit, he was shifted to the general ward on Saturday. Doctors reported that the actor is walking, following a regular diet, and expected to be discharged in two to three days.
Kareena Kapoor, Saif’s wife, revealed that the attacker was aggressive and engaged in a violent altercation with the actor. Strangely, the intruder did not steal anything from the house, leaving even valuable jewellery untouched, adding a layer of mystery to the motive behind the attack.
As Mumbai Police tighten their grip on the case, the focus remains on unraveling the circumstances that led to this horrifying incident and ensuring justice is served.
