In a shocking incident, Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked at his residence by a burglar, and local authorities responded quickly. However, the incident took a heartwarming turn when an auto-rickshaw driver showed kindness. The incident unfolded when Saif was stabbed by an intruder, later identified as Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, a Bangladeshi national. The actor was immediately rushed to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent surgery and is now recovering.
Heroic Act of Bhajan Singh
The actor’s timely transportation to the hospital was made possible by Bhajan Singh, an auto-rickshaw driver who happened to be nearby during the critical moment. Despite the gravity of the situation, Singh refused to accept any payment from the actor for his assistance. Recognizing his selfless act, Singh was rewarded with ₹11,000, which he described as a moment of immense pride. Speaking to IANS, Singh said, “I feel very proud because I never imagined something like this would happen in my life. This recognition has brought me immense joy.”
Mumbai Police quickly moved into action. They tracked the attacker with CCTV footage from Saif’s apartment complex and in the surrounding areas. The footage showed Shehzad alighting from a two-wheeler whose number plate gave a lead. More investigation revealed that the accused bought a paratha and a water bottle from a vendor near Century Mill in Worli, paying by UPI. This transaction was critical to tracking his movement.
With Shehzad’s mobile number and other digital evidence, the police located him in a thicket behind a labor camp in Thane. He was apprehended, and investigations are being conducted further. The incident has raised many discussions about security concerns for celebrities and the great role played by heroes like Bhajan Singh. Many on social media have appreciated Singh for his humanity and quick action during a moment of crisis.
As Saif Ali Khan continues to recover, all the attention continues to remain on the work of the police and Singh who have epitomized courage and goodness in times of adversity.
