Udaipur: Indian badminton superstar and Olympic medalist PV Sindhu got married to Venkata Datta Sai on Sunday in a grand traditional Telugu wedding ceremony held in the picturesque city of Udaipur. The couple’s union was marked by grand celebrations, with the first glimpses of their wedding festivities creating a buzz on social media.

Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, shared the first official photo of the couple, showcasing Sindhu and Datta elegantly dressed in traditional wedding attire. Surrounded by close family and friends, the couple exchanged vows in a setting that epitomized grandeur and tradition. “Pleased to have attended the wedding ceremony of our Badminton Champion Olympian PV Sindhu with Venkata Datta Sai in Udaipur last evening and conveyed my wishes & blessings to the couple for their new life ahead,” Shekhawat wrote on his social media, along with a heartwarming picture from the event.

The wedding celebrations reportedly started on December 20 and will end with a grand luncheon in Hyderabad on December 24, which will be attended by prominent personalities from sports, politics, and entertainment.

Sindhu is India’s most decorated athlete, with a fantastic career boasting five world championship medals, including a historic gold in 2019. She is also renowned for her back-to-back Olympic medals—a silver at Rio 2016 and a bronze at Tokyo 2020. Ranked as high as World No. 2 in 2017, Sindhu has been a trailblazer for Indian sports.
