Punjab Law College Shooting: A first-year student allegedly shot his classmate dead inside a classroom on Monday morning at a private law college in Tarn Taran, Punjab, before turning the gun on himself, leaving the campus in shock. The incident took place at Mai Bhago Law College in Usma village, shortly before lectures were scheduled to begin, catching students and staff off guard.

Senior police officials confirmed that the deceased, 19-year-old Sandeep Kaur, was pronounced dead at the spot after suffering a gunshot wound. The accused, 20-year-old Prince Raj, was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Authorities are investigating how he managed to bring a firearm onto the campus.
CCTV footage from the college captured the chilling moments leading up to and during the shooting. The video reportedly shows the accused sitting with classmates before suddenly taking out a pistol and firing at Sandeep at point-blank range. Other students fled the classroom in panic as the shots rang out.
Preliminary investigations suggest the attack may have stemmed from an alleged one-sided romantic interest, though police are probing all possible angles. Statements from students and staff are being recorded, and forensic teams have been deployed to gather further evidence.
Sandeep’s mother, Harjinder Kaur, expressed shock at the incident and raised concerns about the college’s security measures, questioning how a student could enter with a firearm. Parents and classmates also criticized what they called a lapse in campus security, demanding accountability from the college management.
The tragedy has prompted wider discussions about student safety and early warning signs of potential conflicts in educational institutions. Police continue to investigate the motive, circumstances, and source of the weapon used in the shooting.
