New Delhi, January 15, 2025 –

BJP leader Pravesh Sahib Singh Verma has found himself in legal soup after Delhi Police filed a case against him for allegedly distributing shoes to voters at Valmiki Temple. The incident occurs weeks ahead of the Delhi Assembly Elections, scheduled on February 5, 2025.
The Returning Officer of the New Delhi Assembly Constituency brought the matter to the notice of the Station House Officer (SHO) of Mandir Marg Police Station, and an FIR was lodged. An investigation has been initiated on the complaint that Verma distributed shoes to voters inside the Valmiki Temple, which could be a violation of the Model Code of Conduct.
In the official complaint, the Returning Officer stated that : “Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, prospective BJP candidate, is distributing shoes to electors of New Delhi Assembly Constituency in the religious campus of Valmiki Temple near Mandir Marg Police Station.“
These have added fuel to the already charged political atmosphere in the capital, and Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma’s nomination from the New Delhi constituency pits him against heavyweights such as the AAP chief and incumbent Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit.
Earlier today, Verma filed his nomination papers amidst a massive show of support from BJP workers. He led a roadshow to the District Magistrate’s office, asserting confidence in his party’s prospects, saying, “This nomination is for the development of Delhi. The BJP will emerge victorious in the New Delhi seat.“
Polling for the Delhi Assembly elections will occur in a single phase on February 5, with votes to be counted on February 8. The New Delhi constituency has garnered significant attention, with its high-profile candidates and strategic importance.
About Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma

He then entered national politics by winning the West Delhi Lok Sabha seat in 2014 and retained it in 2019. The shoe distribution controversy, as alleged, is expected to set off firecrackers of debates in this probe. The opposition parties will line up to slam BJP as political rivals jump upon the incident. The BJP government, led by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, would be awaiting with bated breath about the Election Commission’s reaction to the entire scenario.
