Noida CEO Dr. Lokesh Punishes Officials for Ignoring Elderly Man, Video Goes Viral

A much-debated case involving the reprimand of 16 officials by CEO Dr. Lokesh M, for not assisting an elderly man, who eventually was left waiting at the Noida Authority office, by making them stand and work for 30 minutes has become viral with many appreciating his decision on the public’s behalf to enforce accountability and a better public service.

This was on Monday. CMO Dr. Lokesh, an IAS officer of 2005-batch, reviewing CCTV footages installed throughout the office, noticed a senior citizen waiting at a counter and ordered the official handling it to attend to the senior citizen immediately or give a reason as to why his request cannot be met at that hour. It was exactly 20 minutes later, when no one attended to the elderly man.

The waiting period infuriated Dr. Lokesh. He addressed the officials standing at all the counters and instructed them to get up, along with female employees, and stand to work for 30 minutes. Dr. Lokesh reportedly said, “Only when you work while standing, you will understand the difficulties faced by the elderly.”

The video of the incident shows the officials following the directive, a moment that has sparked widespread appreciation for the CEO’s approach. Many on social media commended the action, saying such measures are crucial for ensuring accountability in government offices often criticized for neglecting public grievances.
Dr. Lokesh took over Noida in 2023 and has been actively working to improve the efficiency and responsiveness of the Authority.

This latest action will prove to be a milestone in fostering a culture of empathy and service among citizens, as citizens, especially the elderly, will be treated with dignity and urgency.
