Baba Siddiqui Murder Case: Mumbai Crime Branch has filed a 4,590-page chargesheet in the murder case of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former Minister of State, Baba Siddiqui. The detailed document, submitted to the Special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) Court on Monday, reveals the alleged involvement of the notorious Anmol Bishnoi gang in the high-profile assassination.
Details of the Chargesheet
The chargesheet has been divided into six volumes. It has some crucial evidence gathered during the probe. The major highlights include testimony from 180 people, 74 statements under Section 180 BNSS, 14 under Section 183 BNSS, five firearms with six magazines and 84 rounds of ammunition, and 35 mobile phones seized from the accused.
Baba Siddiqui was shot dead on 12th October, 2024. He was killed in an incident close to the Nirmalnagar Police Station in Bandra (East). The police have attributed the killing to a criminal syndicate known for its violent methods and strategic dominance in the underworld called the Anmol Bishnoi gang.
According to the chargesheet, Siddiqui was targeted because of suspected ties with Salman Khan, Bollywood actor whose previous controversy over blackbuck poaching case was abhorrent to the Bishnoi community. The investigators believe the gang also suspected Siddiqui of connections with the Dawood Ibrahim gang.
The Mumbai Crime Branch has nabbed 26 suspects in this case. The three main perpetrators are still absconding, including Mohammad Yasin Akhtar, alias Sikandar, Shubham Rameshwar Lonkar, alias Shubbu, and Anmol Lavinder Singh Bishnoi, alias Bhanu, identified as the mastermind. Police claim that Bishnoi had planned this murder as a part of the larger plan to terrorize people and consolidate their gang’s dominance.

Contrary to the earlier speculations, there was no nexus found between the murder of Siddiqui and disputes over SRA projects.
The case had initially been registered at the Nirmalnagar Police Station. The case has been transferred to the Crime Branch for an exhaustive probe. Law enforcement officials have demonstrated a determined effort to deliver justice with the suspects arrested from multiple states.
The trial is now set to begin in the Special MCOCA Court, while efforts to apprehend the absconding suspects continue. Police remain confident that the substantial evidence presented in the chargesheet will lead to convictions and provide justice to Siddiqui’s family.
The political leader’s cold-blooded murder has shown how well-entrenched organized crime is in Mumbai. This case is essential for the authorities to curb such criminal activities and ensure safety to the public, officials said.
The developments in this high-stakes trial will be closely watched as authorities vow to leave no stone unturned in their pursuit of justice.
