Massive Fire at Mahakumbh: A massive fire broke out in the Mahakumbh Mela area in Sector 19 of Prayagraj after a gas cylinder exploded. The fire spread rapidly, engulfing 200-250 tents and causing chaos in the region.
Six fire engines are being used for the control of the fire; however, the winds are strong, and multiple cylinder explosions in the tents are triggering the flames to rage. The area is between Shastri Bridge and Railway Bridge, which falls under the large area of the Mahakumbh Mela ground.
The local police, along with NDRF teams, are continuing to evacuate the perimeter sections to be on the safe side. Though they were attempting to control it, the blaze has now moved into Sectors 19 and 20.
Panic has gripped mela area after people rushed from one place to another in a haphazard manner. There has been no death or injury.
The situation remains tense as firefighters and emergency teams work tirelessly to contain the blaze and prevent further damage. The presence of multiple gas cylinders in the tents and strong winds are making their task increasingly challenging.
