Mahindra Thar Roxx Launched in India: Mahindra and Mahindra have launched the 5-door Thar Roxx SUV, starting at ₹12.99 lakh for the petrol variant and ₹13.99 lakh for the diesel, which is ₹1.64 lakh higher than the three-door model.
Indian automotive leader Mahindra and Mahindra has officially launched the eagerly awaited 5-door Thar Roxx, marking a major enhancement to its popular Thar series. The SUV is available at an introductory price starting from ₹12.99 lakh (ex-showroom) for the petrol variant, while the diesel variant begins at ₹13.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

The company has announced that bookings for the Thar Roxx will open on 3 October, with deliveries scheduled to start during the Dussehra festive season. Prospective buyers can experience the vehicle firsthand, as test drives will be available starting from 14 September.
As reported by HT Auto, the base variant of the Thar Roxx, named the MX1, is available in both petrol and diesel options. The Petrol MT RWD is priced at ₹12.99 lakh, while the Diesel MT RWD is priced at ₹13.99 lakh. This variant comes with a range of essential features, including LED projector headlamps, LED tail lamps, 18-inch steel wheels, an electronic parking brake, and a push-button start/stop function.

The MX1 variant also features a 26.03 cm touchscreen infotainment system, 60:40 split seats, and rear AC vents, offering a comfortable and connected driving experience. Safety is a top priority, with Electronic Stability Control, six airbags, and 3-point seatbelts for all passengers.
Stepping up to the MX3 variant brings additional convenience and technology. The petrol automatic version is priced at ₹14.99 lakh, while the diesel manual version is available at ₹15.99 lakh. This trim level adds a rear armrest with cup holders, driving modes, terrain modes, adventure statistics, and a rear parking camera. Other advanced features include wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, cruise control, auto-dimming IRVM, wireless charging, and one-touch power windows. For enhanced safety, the MX3 variant is equipped with traction control, hill hold control, hill descent control, and four disc brakes on the Petrol AT version.
The MX5 variant, starting at ₹16.99 lakh, enhances the Thar Roxx with a range of premium features. It includes a single-pane sunroof, 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, LED fog lamps, DRLs, and front parking sensors. The interior receives upgrades like an acoustic windshield, leatherette-wrapped steering wheel, and seats. The safety features are further bolstered with front parking sensors, automatic headlamps and wipers, a tyre pressure monitoring system, and an electronic locking differential on the 4×4 versions.
For those prioritizing advanced technology and comfort, the AX3L variant provides a comprehensive offering. Priced at ₹16.99 lakh for the Diesel MT RWD, it retains many features from the MX3 variant but adds ADAS, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, DTS sound staging, a 26.03 cm HD touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, and a digital instrument cluster.
At the top of the range, the AX7L variant stands out with luxurious amenities and state-of-the-art technology. It includes a panoramic sunroof, 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, front-ventilated seats with electric adjustment, a front camera, and a cooled glovebox. The AX7L is also equipped with a 360-degree parking camera with blind spot monitoring, obstacle view, a Harman Kardon sound system with a subwoofer, power-folding ORVMs, and a 65W USB charger. The 4×4 versions further enhance the driving experience with advanced features like SmartCrawl and Intelliturn.
Interior
The 5-door Thar features a sophisticated black and beige interior theme, with seats covered in white leatherette upholstery and a dashboard wrapped in black leatherette padding, accented by contrasting copper stitching. Front passengers also benefit from independent center armrests. The standout feature, however, is the second row, which is equipped with ISOFIX child seat mounts on the sides, a foldout center armrest, three-point seatbelts, and adjustable headrests for all passengers.

The 5-door Thar now boasts an extensive list of comfort and convenience features. It includes two 10.25-inch displays—one for the digital driver’s display and the other for the touchscreen—along with a panoramic sunroof and automatic AC with rear AC vents. Additional amenities include ventilated front seats, wireless phone charging, and keyless entry with push-button start/stop.
In terms of safety, the Thar is equipped with six airbags as standard, a 360-degree camera setup, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), electronic stability control (ESC), and an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) suite featuring lane keep assist and adaptive cruise control.
