Mumbai, January 23, 2025: In a shocking development, renowned comedian Kapil Sharma and veteran actor Rajpal Yadav have reportedly received death threats through an email sent from Pakistan. The email, dated December 14, 2024, has also targeted choreographer-director Remo D’Souza and actress-singer Sugandha Mishra.
The threatening email was sent from the address don99284@gmail.com to Rajpal Yadav’s team email account (teamrajpalyadav@gmail.com) by a sender identifying themselves as “Bishnu.” The message warned that Sharma, his family, associates, and Yadav were at risk of being killed.
Alarmed by the email, Yadav’s wife, Radha Rajpal Yadav, immediately filed a complaint at Amboli Police Station in Mumbai. The police registered a case under Section 351(3) of the Indian Penal Code, which pertains to threats of harm.
The same threat email was reportedly sent to choreographer and film director Remo D’Souza and actress Sugandha Mishra. Both individuals have filed separate complaints at their respective local police stations.
The email ominously stated, “We are monitoring your recent activities and we believe it is important that we bring to your attention a sensitive matter. This is not a publicity stunt or an attempt to harass you, we urge you to treat this message with utmost seriousness and confidentiality.”
The message was signed off by “BISHNU,” raising concerns about its legitimacy and intent.
The police investigation revealed that the email originated from Pakistan, raising the stakes in the case. Mumbai Police have intensified their vigilance and are working with cybercrime experts to identify and apprehend the sender.
This incident comes amidst a series of security concerns in Mumbai. Recently, politician Baba Siddique was fatally attacked, and Bollywood stars Salman Khan and Saif Ali Khan faced separate threats, including a knife attack on the latter. The law and order situation has led to heightened security for prominent public figures in the city.
A senior police officer stated, “We are taking these threats very seriously. Our team is working to trace the origin of the email and identify the person behind it. Security has been beefed up for all the celebrities mentioned in the email.”
As investigations continue, fans and well-wishers of the celebrities have expressed concerns over their safety, urging authorities to ensure strict action against those responsible. This incident serves as a stark reminder of the increasing threats faced by public figures and the urgent need for enhanced cyber vigilance.
