Kannauj Viral MMS Video: Teachers Suspended After Classroom Video Goes Viral, Inquiry Ordered in Uttar Pradesh School

Kannauj Viral MMS Video: A government primary school in Uttar Pradesh’s Kannauj district has unexpectedly become the focus of statewide attention after videos allegedly showing two teachers in an intimate moment inside a classroom went viral on social media. The incident has triggered swift administrative action, raised questions about professional conduct in educational institutions, and opened a wider debate on privacy, accountability, and the standards expected from public servants working in schools.

Kannauj Viral MMS Video: Teachers Suspended After Classroom Video Goes Viral, Inquiry Ordered in Uttar Pradesh School

The controversy revolves around Composite Vidyalaya Bajhedi, a government-run primary school located in the Saurikh block of Kannauj. Until recently, the school was known only to local residents and the families whose children studied there. That changed dramatically after video clips began circulating online on July 13 and 14, showing two assistant teachers inside what appeared to be an empty classroom after school hours.

The videos, which spread rapidly across social media platforms, allegedly show the teachers embracing, kissing, and repeatedly checking their surroundings before continuing their interaction. No students or other staff members appear in the footage. Although the videos quickly became the subject of public discussion, education authorities have stressed that the authenticity of the recordings and all related circumstances will be examined through an official departmental inquiry.

The male teacher has been identified as Awadhesh Pal, while the female teacher has been identified as Pooja Rani. Both serve as assistant teachers at the same government school. Within hours of the videos gaining widespread attention, the Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) of Kannauj, Sandeep Kumar, suspended both teachers pending further investigation.

According to the suspension orders, Awadhesh Pal has been attached to the Block Resource Centre (BRC) in Gugrapur during the inquiry period, while Pooja Rani has been attached to the BRC in Talgram. Officials stated that the transfers are administrative arrangements while disciplinary proceedings continue.

The department has made it clear that the inquiry will determine whether the conduct shown in the videos violates service rules applicable to government teachers. Officials say the process will examine all available evidence before arriving at any final conclusion.

What has made the case particularly unusual is the reported origin of the recordings. According to sources familiar with the matter, the hidden camera was allegedly installed inside the classroom by Awadhesh Pal’s wife, who has reportedly been involved in a family court dispute with him for nearly four years.

Sources claim that she had grown suspicious about her husband’s relationship with his colleague and decided to secretly monitor activities inside the school. The hidden camera reportedly captured multiple recordings over several months before the footage was eventually released publicly. While these claims have circulated widely, investigators are expected to verify the complete timeline and circumstances as part of the ongoing inquiry.

The alleged use of a concealed camera has added another complex dimension to the controversy. Although public attention has largely focused on the teachers’ conduct inside school premises, legal experts note that secretly recording individuals without their knowledge and later circulating intimate footage can also raise significant legal and privacy concerns under Indian law.

At present, authorities have not publicly confirmed whether any criminal complaint has been registered regarding the alleged covert surveillance or the distribution of the recordings. The current investigation remains focused primarily on possible violations of departmental service rules by the suspended teachers.

The incident has also reignited concerns about supervision within government schools, particularly in rural areas where administrative inspections are relatively infrequent. Many schools operate with limited day-to-day oversight, relying largely on teachers to maintain professional discipline and uphold institutional standards.

Education officials are expected to examine whether the alleged conduct had any impact on the school’s academic environment or the welfare of students. Even though the classroom shown in the videos appears to have been empty, authorities are likely to assess whether school property was misused in a manner inconsistent with the responsibilities entrusted to government educators.

The case has attracted widespread public reaction because schools are widely regarded as spaces that demand the highest standards of professionalism and ethical conduct. Teachers occupy positions of trust, particularly in primary education where they play a significant role in shaping children’s development. Any allegation involving inappropriate behaviour inside educational premises naturally attracts greater public scrutiny.

At the same time, the controversy has sparked conversations about the boundaries between personal relationships and workplace responsibilities. While personal lives generally remain private, many believe that conduct occurring inside government institutions—especially schools—falls under a different standard because public property and taxpayer-funded workplaces are involved.

Legal observers also point out that two separate issues now exist within the same controversy. One concerns whether the teachers violated professional conduct rules by engaging in intimate behaviour inside a government classroom. The other relates to the reported installation of a hidden recording device and the subsequent public circulation of private footage without consent. Each issue may require separate legal and administrative examination depending on the evidence gathered during the inquiry.

So far, officials have not announced any criminal investigation specifically linked to either aspect of the case. The education department has limited its immediate response to disciplinary action and internal proceedings.

Parents and residents in the Saurikh area have been closely following developments as the story continues to dominate discussions across Uttar Pradesh. While many have welcomed the administration’s quick response, others believe the episode highlights broader issues involving institutional monitoring, accountability, and workplace ethics within the public education system.

Despite the controversy, daily activities at Composite Vidyalaya Bajhedi continue. Students have returned to classrooms while administrative officials carry forward the inquiry behind the scenes. For the children studying there, the school building remains unchanged, even though its name has suddenly become known far beyond Kannauj.

As of now, both teachers remain under suspension while departmental proceedings continue. Authorities have indicated that further action will depend entirely on the findings of the inquiry. Until those findings are made public, the case remains under official examination, with questions surrounding professional conduct, institutional oversight, privacy rights, and legal accountability likely to remain at the centre of public debate.
