Ahmedabad: Jeet Adani, the younger son of billionaire industrialist Gautam Adani, tied the knot with his fiancée Diva Shah in a private wedding ceremony on Friday. The event, performed as per Jain traditions, took place at Shantigram in Ahmedabad, with only close family and friends in attendance.
Keeping the ceremony simple and traditional, the Adani family refrained from inviting celebrities, business leaders or politicians. Unlike the recent high-profile wedding of Mukesh Ambani’s son Anant Ambani, Jeet Adani’s wedding remained a private affair, reflecting the family’s values and preference towards decency.
A notable gesture: Gautam Adani pledged Rs 10,000 crore for social causes related to health and wellness, education and skill development. These pledged funds will be invested in setting up a network of world-class hospitals, medical colleges, K-12 schools and advanced skills academies to enhance better employability.
The wedding ceremony began at around 2 pm with rituals and ceremonies of Jain and Gujarati culture. The wedding ceremony was attended by immediate relatives and close family friends and did not have the pomp and show that usually accompany weddings between billionaires.
Talking about the wedding on social media platform X, Adani said: “With the blessings of the Almighty God, Jeet and Diva tied the holy knot of marriage today. It was a small and extremely private ceremony, so we could not invite all the well-wishers even though we wanted to, for which I apologize.” Along with the message, he shared some glimpses of the ceremony and wished the newlyweds.
Jeet Adani, 28, director of Adani Airports; joined the Adani Group in 2019 after graduating in engineering from the University of Pennsylvania. He started working in the group’s CFO office. Divya Shah is his bride. She is a diamond trader and her father Jaimin Shah is the co-owner of diamond manufacturing company C Dinesh & Co Pvt Ltd, as well as its businesses in Mumbai and Surat. The couple got engaged in a private ceremony in Ahmedabad in March 2023.
The wedding is followed by a reception for Adani Group employees on Saturday. The family had earlier clarified that the event will remain traditional and low-key, putting an end to rumours of a grand event with global celebrities and lavish arrangements. It is being speculated that it will be one of the biggest star-studded events, with Elon Musk, Bill Gates and even Taylor Swift reportedly on the guest list.
However, Adani remained tight-lipped on such things and instead dismissed all speculations in his statement and reiterated his intention to “keep it very simple and spontaneous like common people”. He said this during the Maha Kumbh pilgrimage in Prayagraj last month. This simplicity is a far cry from the lavish wedding of Mukesh Ambani’s youngest son Anant Ambani, which was attended by global business tycoons, political leaders and celebrities, and featured performances by international pop stars. Jeet Adani’s wedding exemplifies simplicity and reinforces the Adani family’s values, reflecting their emphasis on tradition and social responsibility over pomp and extravagance.
