Akshnoor Kaur Shines in PSEB Class 10 Results 2025
The Punjab School Education Board (PSEB) Class X results have created waves this year, with girls achieving a remarkable academic milestone by completely dominating the merit list. Leading the way is Akshnoor Kaur from Sant Mohan Das Memorial Senior Secondary School, Kot Suthiyan, Faridkot, who secured a perfect score of 650 out of 650, topping the state and bringing immense pride to the Malwa region.
What makes this year’s results even more remarkable is that all top three positions have been secured by girls from Malwa, showcasing not just academic brilliance but also excellence in sports. Ratinderdeep Kaur from Baba Farid Public Senior Secondary School, Chhattiana, Muktsar; Arshdeep Kaur from Ram Saroop Memorial Senior Secondary School, Chaunda, Malerkotla; and Jahsanpreet Kaur Gill from Sant Mohan Das Memorial Senior Secondary School, Kot Suthiyan, also scored a flawless 650/650. Due to the age-difference criteria used for ranking, they were placed second, third, and fourth respectively. Interestingly, all three are from the sports category with significant achievements in rugby, netball, and Gatka, further proving that all-round development is being nurtured in Punjab’s education system.
In total, 2,65,548 students out of 2,77,746 passed the Class X board examination conducted across 7,009 schools, marking an impressive overall pass percentage of 95.61%. According to PSEB Chairman Amarpal Singh, this year both Class X and Class XII results have witnessed girls clinching the top three positions, a clear indicator of the changing educational landscape in the state.
Among the districts, Amritsar led with the highest pass percentage of 98.54%, followed by Gurdaspur at 98.22% and Tarn Taran at 98.08%. Mohali stood 11th with 96.74%, while Ludhiana, despite its urban and educational infrastructure, recorded the lowest pass percentage at 91.62%.
Girls have once again outperformed boys, achieving a pass percentage of 96.85% compared to boys’ 94.50%. In the 300-student merit list, girls accounted for a staggering 256 positions, which translates to 85.33%. On the other hand, only 44 boys made it to the list, contributing merely 14.66%. This significant gender gap in performance is a strong testament to the rising dedication and academic focus among female students in Punjab.
Out of the four transgender students who appeared for the exam, two successfully passed, marking a small but significant step toward inclusivity in education. The rural areas recorded a slightly better performance with a pass percentage of 96.09% compared to 94.71% in urban regions, suggesting that educational initiatives in the countryside are beginning to yield results.
Non-government schools showed slightly better outcomes with a 96.96% pass rate as compared to 95.47% in government institutions. However, one of the most notable points of concern remains the absence of male students from five districts—Mohali, Kapurthala, Muktsar, Ferozepur, and Mansa—in the merit list. From Mohali, only one girl student managed to secure a spot, underscoring the need for focused academic support in some of these regions.
This year’s PSEB Class X results are not just about marks—they reflect a larger narrative of girl empowerment, rural educational development, and the ever-growing impact of sports on academic performance. As Punjab celebrates this achievement, it also sets the stage for educational reforms that further uplift every student, regardless of gender or geography.
