FIR Registered Against RCB, Event Firm, and KSCA in Chinnaswamy Stadium Stampede That Killed 11

FIR Registered Against RCB: An FIR has been filed against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), DNA Entertainment Private Limited, and the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) following the tragic stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru that left 11 people dead and 56 injured. The incident occurred during a special felicitation ceremony held to honor RCB players.

The complaint, filed by a police inspector, led to the case being registered at the Cubbon Park Police Station. According to officials, RCB has been named as Accused No. 1 in the FIR, followed by DNA Entertainment as Accused No. 2, and the KSCA Administrative Committee as Accused No. 3. The police confirmed on Thursday that the case has now been handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for a detailed probe.

Police have invoked multiple serious charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including Section 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), Section 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), Section 118 (causing hurt by dangerous means), Section 121 (deterring a public servant), Section 190 (unlawful assembly), Section 132 (criminal force against public servant), and Section 125(12) (acts endangering life or personal safety).

The stampede unfolded as thousands of fans gathered near the stadium gates to attend the felicitation event. Eyewitnesses say the crowd swelled beyond control as people surged forward, leading to chaos and panic. Police struggled to manage the overwhelming crowd, resulting in the deadly crush.

In response, the Karnataka government has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident. The probe is being led by Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesha, who has been tasked with determining the sequence of events and identifying lapses that led to the tragedy.

This incident has sparked public outrage, with many questioning the planning and crowd control measures at high-profile events. Families of the victims are demanding accountability, while political leaders and civil society groups have called for swift and transparent action against those responsible.

As investigations unfold, attention remains focused on whether the authorities and event organizers took adequate precautions to ensure the safety of attendees.
