Surat, Gujarat – June 10, 2025: In a heartbreaking incident that has shaken the local fashion and modelling community, 23-year-old freelance model Anjali Alpesh Varmora was found dead at her residence in Surat after reportedly dying by suicide during the intervening night of June 7 and 8.

According to Surat DCP Vijay Singh Gurjar, Anjali was living alone at the time of the incident. Her family was away and discovered the tragic scene upon returning, finding her room locked from the inside. Despite rushing for help, it was too late.

A Promising Career Cut Short
Anjali Alpesh Varmora had been making a name for herself in the modelling world. She was associated with several Surat-based studios and was actively involved in fashion shoots, textile catalogues, and commercial modelling assignments. Friends and colleagues remember her as ambitious, polite, and deeply passionate about her career.
“She had immense potential and was steadily building her portfolio,” said a studio photographer who had worked with her on multiple projects.
Engagement and Postponed Wedding Plans
As per the family’s statement to the police, Anjali was engaged and her wedding was originally planned for this year. However, the ceremony was postponed to next year due to the recent death of her fiancé’s mother. This personal loss had reportedly cast a shadow over her emotional wellbeing.
Sources revealed that Anjali had tried to contact her fiancé shortly before the incident, but he was unable to respond in time. “She had not expressed any visible signs of distress during recent meetings,” the fiancé reportedly told investigators.

In the days leading up to her death, Anjali had shared a series of emotional status updates on social media. While the posts didn’t mention any names directly, they hinted at inner turmoil and emotional struggle. These updates are now being looked at by police as part of their investigation.
“There were no direct threats or alarming signals in her messages, but they were emotional in nature,” said DCP Gurjar. “We are not ruling out any angle, and a full investigation is ongoing.”
No Suicide Note Found
Police confirmed that no suicide note was found at the scene. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and initial findings suggest no foul play.
The modelling and creative community in Surat is in deep mourning. Many have taken to social media to share tributes, remembering Anjali not just as a professional, but as a warm-hearted young woman with dreams too big to fade this soon.
