
Samastipur: Dr. Abhishek Ranjan, a contractual doctor from the Samastipur Divisional Railway Hospital, died on Sunday of a heart attack while on duty at the Mahakumbh Mela.
Dr. Ranjan was working as a contractual doctor at the Samastipur Divisional Railway Hospital since last year. He was put on duty at Mahakumbh Mela from January 26 to February 5. Two days before his untimely death, he had left Samastipur to join duty.
Dr. Abhishek Ranjan was from Satanpur village under the Ujiarpur police station area in Samastipur district. He is the son of Dr. Shiv Shankar Prasad Shah, an influential figure of the region. His sudden death has shocked not only the medical community but also the natives of the place. Many friends, colleagues, and even locals have extended their condolences while describing him as a dedicated professional who always preferred service above self.
Further details of the case have yet to be received, along with arrangements made for his final rites. His untimely death points to more effective healthcare facilities and support mechanisms for medical practitioners working under extreme pressure conditions such as large events like the Mahakumbh Mela.
