Delhi Kalkaji Elections 2025: CM Atishi Turns to Crowdfunding for Kalkaji Seat, Seeks Rs 40 Lakh.

Delhi Kalkaji Elections 2025: Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has launched a crowdfunding campaign for raising Rs 40 lakh for her attempt to contest the Kalkaji seat in the next Delhi Assembly elections. Speaking to the media, she said that funds raised through the campaign would be exclusively used for elections.

Atishi said, “AAP always relies on people’s donations. The party doesn’t accept any money from the big corporate house or influential business persons. “AAP has always worked for common people, and people have always supported our honest politics. For my election from Kalkaji, I am seeking Rs 40 lakh through crowdfunding. People can donate any amount they wish,” Atishi stated.

She is the first sitting Chief Minister in Indian history who is now crowdfunding for her election campaign,” said AAP leader Reena Gupta, who also pointed out that Atishi was the one who had presented a Rs 70,000 crore budget. “This shows her belief in the people’s power and the party’s commitment to transparency. She is saying, ‘Come and support me’,” Gupta added.

AAP has been forthright about their dependence on citizens’ small contributions since its formation. Gupta emphasized that this only goes to state the party’s commitment to cleaning up and becoming accountable in its politics.

BJP termed this move a gimmick by the AAP party which is rampant in corruption, which has utterly mishandled its social welfare programs. The AAP is struggling to clean Delhi of the dreadful pollution issue looming over it as well. A BJP leader condemned the AAP and called its ruling government ” AAPda”.

In retaliation, AAP called the BJP a “Galli Galoch Party” and termed it as the most dishonest and election-manipulating party. The Delhi Assembly elections will be held in a single phase on February 5, and the counting of votes will take place on February 8. The last date to file nominations is January 17, and candidates can withdraw their nominations till January 20.

In the 2020 Assembly elections, AAP dominated the results, winning 62 out of 70 seats, while the BJP secured only eight seats. The Congress, once a formidable force in Delhi with 15 years of consecutive rule, has failed to win a single seat in the past two elections.

Delhi is gearing up for the 2025 elections, which promises to be a hotly contested battle as AAP relies on grassroots support and transparency, and BJP and Congress look to regain lost ground in the capital.
