In a major development, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, Moti Ram Jat, on charges of espionage. The arrest was made in Delhi after the agency unearthed evidence linking the accused to the Pakistani intelligence network.

According to official sources, Moti Ram Jat had been actively involved in leaking classified information related to India’s national security. His actions reportedly date back to 2023, during which he maintained contact with Pakistan Intelligence Officers (PIOs) and passed on sensitive details. In return, he is believed to have received monetary compensation through multiple covert channels.
The arrest followed a detailed probe that tracked suspicious communication patterns and financial transactions linked to foreign handlers. The NIA believes Moti Ram Jat was part of a broader espionage network aimed at compromising India’s internal security. Sources say the funds were routed using intricate methods to avoid detection, indicating a well-organized operation.
Moti Ram Jat is currently being interrogated by NIA officials to extract further details about the network, possible accomplices, and the exact nature of the information leaked. Following his arrest, he was produced before the special NIA court at Patiala House, where he was remanded to custody until June 6.
The incident has raised serious concerns within security agencies, prompting internal reviews of personnel monitoring systems. The CRPF, a critical paramilitary force in India’s internal security framework, has not issued an official statement yet. However, sources indicate that a deeper internal inquiry is likely to follow.
This case underscores the persistent threat of foreign espionage targeting India’s defense infrastructure and the crucial role of vigilant surveillance in national security.
