Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has announced the ‘Ladla Bhai Yojana’ for boys in the state, following the introduction of the ‘Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana’ for girls, which aims to provide monthly financial assistance of ₹1,500 to eligible women.
Speaking in Maharashtra’s Pandharpur on Ashadhi Ekadashi, Shinde emphasized that the state government does not differentiate between boys and girls, and that the ‘Ladla Bhai Yojana’ will address unemployment issues.
What is Ladla Bhai Yojana and Who Will Benefit?
The Ladla Bhai Yojana targets youths in Maharashtra who have passed the 12th grade. According to Jagran Josh, the stipend amount will vary based on the beneficiaries’ qualifications, as stated by an official from the Department of Skills, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation.
Under this scheme, students who have completed their 12th grade will receive ₹6,000 per month. Those holding a diploma will receive ₹8,000 per month, and graduates will be given ₹10,000 per month.
Additionally, as reported by India TV, youth will have the opportunity to undergo a one-year apprenticeship in a factory, gaining valuable work experience that can enhance their job prospects based on that experience.
According to the report, CM Shinde highlighted that this scheme aims to cultivate a skilled workforce. He underscored that this initiative marks the first time any government has introduced such a program, as reported by the Free Press Journal.
Shinde made this announcement shortly before the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections scheduled later this year.
What is Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana and who will benefit?
The Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana provides eligible women aged 21 to 60 with a monthly allowance of ₹1,500. This initiative aims to foster women’s holistic development and empowerment, encompassing economic independence, self-reliance, as well as health and nutrition.
During the presentation of the state budget, Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar announced an annual allocation of ₹46,000 crore for the scheme, scheduled to be implemented in July.
