Indian Army Responds Firmly to Pakistan’s 5th Night of Ceasefire Violation Along LoC

New Delhi, Ceasefire Violation : Tensions along the Line of Control (LoC) escalated dramatically as the Indian Army responded strongly to yet another night of unprovoked firing by Pakistani troops. This marks the fifth consecutive night of ceasefire violations, following the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 individuals, most of whom were tourists.

Ceasefire Violation Along LoC

According to an official statement issued by the Indian Army, on the night of April 28–29, Pakistani forces resorted to unprovoked small arms firing across multiple sectors including Kupwara, Baramulla, and the Akhnoor sector. Indian troops reacted swiftly and effectively, sending a clear message that continued aggression would not go unanswered.

“During the night of 28–29 April 2025, the Pakistan Army resorted to unprovoked small arms firing across the Line of Control in areas opposite Kupwara and Baramulla districts, as well as the Akhnoor sector,” the Army said.

“The Indian Army responded in a measured and effective manner to the provocation.”

Pattern of Provocation

The ongoing ceasefire violations have followed a consistent pattern, with Pakistan targeting Indian forward posts and civilian areas in Poonch, Kupwara, and Baramulla districts over the past several nights. Despite no reported casualties so far, the repeated breaches have heightened fear among border residents and escalated military readiness on both sides.

On the intervening night of April 27–28, Pakistani troops targeted positions in Poonch and Kupwara, prompting another robust response from Indian forces. Similar violations were reported on April 25, 26, and 27, forming a dangerous trend amid already tense bilateral relations.

India’s Strong Diplomatic Measures

In the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, which New Delhi believes has cross-border links, India has taken a series of punitive diplomatic and economic measures. These include:

  • Suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, a 65-year-old agreement governing the sharing of rivers.
  • Closure of the Attari land border for all forms of movement.
  • Expulsion of Pakistani military attachés from Indian soil.
  • Orders for all Pakistanis entering via Attari to leave India by May 1.

These moves indicate a decisive shift in India’s posture towards Pakistan, particularly in light of mounting evidence of cross-border support to terror activities.

Pakistan Retaliates with Airspace and Trade Ban

Reacting to India’s strong steps, Islamabad responded by shutting its airspace to Indian commercial flights and suspending trade relations, including through third-party countries. Analysts suggest this tit-for-tat escalation may have long-term implications on regional peace and diplomacy.

As both nations remain on high alert, the situation along the LoC continues to be volatile. With cross-border firing intensifying and diplomatic channels frozen, the international community is watching closely. The Indian Army’s firm response and New Delhi’s strategic measures signal a no-tolerance approach to terrorism and ceasefire violations.
