Purpose and Benefits:
This vital infrastructure project is designed to divert heavy and long-distance traffic from congested urban roads in Zirakpur, Panchkula, Mohali, and surrounding areas. It will significantly reduce travel time for vehicles heading towards Delhi, Patiala, Mohali Aerocity, and Himachal Pradesh.
Once completed, the bypass will provide seamless connectivity between NH-7, NH-5, and NH-152, minimizing bottlenecks and enhancing road safety in the region.
Impact on Local Commuters:
Local residents and daily commuters have long faced traffic snarls on the Zirakpur stretch, especially during peak hours. The new bypass is expected to be a game-changer by easing congestion and offering smooth transit routes for thousands of vehicles each day.
“The approval of the Zirakpur Bypass is a welcome move. It’s been a daily struggle on these roads, and this project will finally offer some relief,” said Ramesh Sharma, a resident of Dhakoli.
Development Model:
The project will be implemented on a Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM), a combination of government and private investment. This ensures timely execution while sharing financial risks, making it a sustainable development model for long-term infrastructure needs.
Government’s Vision:
This bypass is part of the Bharatmala Pariyojana, a nationwide initiative to improve road infrastructure, reduce travel time, and boost logistics efficiency across India.
With this approval, the government reiterates its commitment to improving infrastructure in North India, ensuring balanced growth and better quality of life for its citizens.
