The Bharatiya Janata Party BJP releases second list of candidates for the much-anticipated 2025 Delhi Assembly elections. The second list comprises 29 candidates who will contest for the party, which is all set to attract a wide array of voters from the capital city.
This decision was taken after a crucial Central Election Committee meeting held on January 10, 2025. The meeting was chaired by BJP President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda and was attended by prominent party stalwarts, including Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Shri Rajnath Singh, Home Minister Shri Amit Shah, and other senior leaders.
Highlights of the Second List
Among the notable names in the second list are:
- Kapil Mishra: Former AAP leader and now a prominent BJP face, he will contest from Karawal Nagar, a constituency he has represented in the past.
- Harish Khurana: A senior BJP leader and a familiar name in Delhi’s political circles, he has been fielded from Moti Nagar.
- Priyanka Gautam: A new entrant to the BJP from AAP, she is contesting from Kondli, which signals the BJP’s intent to attract voters from various political backgrounds.
This second list follows the party’s earlier announcement of its first set of candidates and reinforces its commitment to bring dynamic leaders into the electoral fray.
The BJP’s candidate selection process has been aimed at balancing experience with fresh perspectives. The inclusion of new leaders like Priyanka Gautam alongside seasoned politicians reflects the party’s focus on rejuvenating its ranks while maintaining stability.
Speaking on the declaration, BJP President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda said that it was confident about winning the elections in Delhi on a big scale. “Our candidates are the aspirations of Delhi’s people. We feel that they would bring development and good governance in every nook and corner,” he said.

The Aam Aadmi Party was the dominant force in the capital during the last elections. But BJP’s leadership and categorically handpicked candidates show that the party is well set to take back the capital.
As elections are close in 2025, political activity is going to be intensified in the capital state with parties projecting voters’ choices through campaigns and outreach programs.
With two lists declared, all focus now is on BJP’s next course of action and the tactics it shall adopt to impress the electors.
