Bengaluru Techie Arrested : In a shocking turn of events, a 41-year-old software engineer, Srikant, has been arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly harassing a 21-year-old woman and assaulting her and a friend with a paper cutter. The incident unfolded near Banashankari’s Deve Gowda petrol bunk, where the accused reportedly attacked the woman and her male friend before fleeing the scene.

Srikant, a resident of Kamalanagar and an employee at an IT firm, had reportedly been harassing the woman, who had previously rented a room in his house for about a year. Despite being married, Srikant’s attempts to force a relationship upon the young woman persisted. Disturbed by his relentless behavior, the woman confronted Srikant’s wife and reported the matter. Despite her efforts to file a complaint at the Basaveshwaranagar police station, initial action was limited to a warning issued to the accused.
The situation escalated on April 8, when Srikant allegedly confronted the woman and her friend, resorting to physical violence. Armed with a paper cutter, he reportedly attacked the two, injuring them before fleeing. Authorities managed to track down Srikant after a police investigation, and he was promptly arrested for his actions.
This incident raises serious concerns about the safety and well-being of women in Bengaluru, where similar cases of harassment have surfaced in recent weeks.
Another Harassment Incident in Bengaluru’s BTM Layout
In a separate incident, a woman was reportedly sexually harassed by an unidentified man in the BTM Layout area of Bengaluru on Thursday. The accused allegedly groped the woman while she was walking with a friend through a narrow, desolate lane. CCTV footage from the area shows the man approaching the two women from behind and quickly fleeing after committing the assault.
Despite the disturbing nature of the incident, the victim has not yet filed a formal complaint. However, police officials have stated that they would take suo motu action and initiate a case if the victim does not come forward. Authorities are also reviewing the CCTV footage in an effort to identify the perpetrator.
