Awadh Ojha Seat: BJP Releases First List, a Heavy Contender in Delhi Assembly Elections 2025

Awadh Ojha Seat: BJP released its first list of candidates for the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections and included 29 names. Out of these names, BJP fielded Ravindra Singh Negi as their candidate for Patparganj Assembly seat from where Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Manish Sisodia used to be a member of the assembly. Negi had given Sisodia a tough competition in the 2020 elections, and BJP’s decision to nominate him once again has raised the stakes for an even more intense contest this time around.

Ravindra Singh Negi’s Comeback

In the 2020 elections, Patparganj saw a close fight between Manish Sisodia and Ravindra Singh Negi. It won with a small margin of only 3,207 votes to mark the contest as one of the closest races that year. However, BJP hopes that return of Negi as a contender in strong arms would make things even more competitive this time around. The supporters of the party are highly excited with his return, as Negi’s hard work and popularity in the region can open up the doors for a possible BJP win in Patparganj.

AAP’s Strategic Move: Awadh Ojha’s Candidature

The AAP also declared its candidates, including the YouTuber and teacher, Awadh Ojha as the party nominee for Patparganj. Ojha, a very recent joiner to the party, comes to the elections as a new face with an increased following on social media. Such a step by the AAP could have strategic intentions wherein it could rely on the use of digital existence by Ojha in targeting the youth’s vote and offer a fresh, alternative figure besides the regular face of the politician.

A Close Call in 2020

The 2020 Delhi Assembly elections witnessed the most competitive electoral battle for the Patparganj constituency. Manish Sisodia led with 70,163 votes, followed closely by Ravindra Singh Negi with 66,956 votes. Such a narrow margin, at 3,207, speaks to just how competitive it was and all but promises the same kind of high-stakes, neck-and-neck battle in 2025.

As the elections are approaching, the Patparganj constituency is sure to be one of the most eagerly watched constituencies, with the BJP, AAP, and their respective candidates trying to win this seat. Here’s the set stage for an electrifying battle of politics which will capture Delhi’s electorates’ imagination in the following months.
