Amit Shah Parliament Speech Live : Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday attacked the Congress for failing to respect the Constitution and neglecting welfare policies, especially for the poor, during a spirited speech in the Rajya Sabha. Concluding the two-day debate on 75 years of the Constitution, Shah pointed to India’s democratic resilience and economic progress as a testament to the country’s unity and determination.
Shah said the recent debates in Parliament are very important and that the youth will find them useful. “The debates will help the people of the country understand which party has honored the Constitution and which has not,” he said. Paying tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s role in unifying the nation, Shah said, “It is due to his tireless efforts that we are standing tall as one nation today.”
He accused the Congress of spending decades eulogizing the Nehru-Gandhi family instead of focusing on national progress. “They did nothing except glorify one family,” he alleged. Drawing comparisons with other nations that gained independence around the same time, Shah lauded India’s democracy. “We have made numerous changes without shedding a drop of blood. The people of this country have shattered the arrogance of multiple dictators democratically,” he said.
Shah said, “This economic achievement has made the country the fifth-largest economy in the world, bigger than Britain.” “The Constitution and the people have given a befitting reply to those who doubted our ability to become economically independent,” he noted. Responding to opposition criticism over EVMs, Shah defended their credibility. He pointed out that the Supreme Court has dismissed repeated petitions against EVMs, accusing Congress of spreading baseless fears.
He alleged that for decades, Congress had forgotten the welfare of backward classes. “The Modi government is working to uplift them, while Congress never put their welfare at the forefront,” he said. Alleging vote-bank politics against Congress, Shah said the party deprived Muslim women of their rights for years. “It was the Modi government that freed the country from the mindset of slavery,” he said.
Shah accused Congress of extending the tenure of the Lok Sabha and state assemblies through the 42nd Constitutional Amendment to avoid electoral defeat, calling it a betrayal of democratic principles. He labeled Congress as “anti-reservation,” asserting that its actions have consistently contradicted its words on supporting marginalized communities.
In conclusion, Amit Shah hailed India’s Constitution as the cornerstone of the nation’s unity and progress, crediting it for India’s journey from independence to becoming a global economic powerhouse. His speech also served as a sharp critique of Congress, underscoring the ideological and policy differences between the ruling BJP and the opposition.
