Alwar, Rajasthan — June 18, 2025 In a deeply disturbing case that echoes the chilling murder of Raja Raghuvanshi during his honeymoon in Meghalaya, a man in Rajasthan’s Alwar district was allegedly murdered by his wife and her Instagram lover—while their 9-year-old son silently witnessed the horrific act.

The victim, Viru Jatav, was murdered in the dead of night on June 7, inside his own home. What initially appeared to be a natural death due to a heart attack soon unravelled into a tale of betrayal, conspiracy, and calculated murder—after the couple’s minor son courageously revealed the truth.

The Deadly Instagram Connection

The investigation has revealed that Anita, Viru’s wife, had met her lover Kashi through Instagram. The relationship reportedly grew over time and soon turned into a conspiracy to eliminate Viru.

“The woman unlocked the gate on the night of the incident to let the killers in. She then stood by as her husband was brutally smothered to death—her young son watching in stunned silence,” said DSP Kailash Chand, who is leading the investigation.

According to the police, Kashi paid ₹2 lakh to four men to help execute the murder. While Anita and Kashi have been arrested, three other accomplices remain on the run.

Boy’s Testimony Unveils the Truth

Initially, Viru’s death was passed off as a cardiac arrest. The police were informed, and preliminary reports seemed to support the claim. However, it was the heartbreaking and detailed statement by the nine-year-old boy that blew the case wide open.

The child, visibly shaken but composed, told investigators that strangers entered the house late at night, and he saw them attacking his father while his mother stood silently. He said his father struggled, gasped, and then lay still—and that no one came to help.

Subsequent CCTV footage from outside the residence confirmed the entry of the suspects around the time of the alleged murder.

Parallels with the Raja Raghuvanshi Murder

The case bears an eerie resemblance to the May 23 murder of Indore businessman Raja Raghuvanshi, who was killed by his wife Sonam, her boyfriend, and three hired killers during their honeymoon in Meghalaya.

Raghuvanshi’s mutilated body was found in a gorge near a waterfall in Sohra (Cherrapunji) on June 2. His wife and the accomplices were later arrested in what has become one of India’s most widely discussed cases of relationship betrayal and planned murder.

Just like in the Raghuvanshi case, social media played a pivotal role in the Alwar crime too. In both instances, extramarital affairs cultivated through Instagram escalated into premeditated killings.

Police Investigation and Arrests

The Alwar police acted swiftly after the child’s testimony. Anita and Kashi were arrested within days, and a manhunt is underway to capture the three absconding attackers.

“This is a case of cold-blooded murder orchestrated within the confines of trust and family. The fact that a child had to witness this makes it all the more tragic,” said DSP Kailash Chand.

The investigators are also examining the digital communication between Anita and Kashi to establish the extent of their planning and motivation.

Rising Trend of Relationship Murders

This case once again raises alarming questions about the rising trend of relationship-related murders—often involving spouses and lovers conspiring together. With the easy access and anonymity offered by platforms like Instagram, illicit relationships are turning deadly at an increasing rate.

Experts say that technology, emotional detachment, and impulsive behavior are creating a dangerous cocktail that often leads to such tragedies.

Community in Shock, Child in Trauma

Neighbors in the Alwar locality where the murder occurred expressed shock and disbelief. Viru was described as a hardworking man, and the family was not known to have any public disputes.

Meanwhile, the couple’s son has been moved to a child welfare home where he is receiving psychological counseling. Authorities are also working to determine the child’s long-term guardianship.
