Ahmedabad Air India Plane Crash: A heartbreaking tragedy struck on Thursday when an Air India plane heading to London crashed shortly after taking off from Ahmedabad airport. The Boeing 787-8 aircraft had 242 people onboard, including passengers and crew. Sadly, 241 people lost their lives in the accident.

The passengers included 169 Indians, 53 British citizens, seven Portuguese nationals, and one Canadian. Air India confirmed that there was only one survivor, a British national of Indian origin named Vishwas Kumar Ramesh. He is currently receiving treatment at the civil hospital in Ahmedabad.
On Friday morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached the crash site to take stock of the situation. He later visited the civil hospital and met the injured, including the lone survivor. He also spoke to the doctors treating the patients and thanked them for their efforts.
After his hospital visit, PM Modi held a review meeting with senior Gujarat officials at the GujSail building near the airport. Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu, and other top leaders attended the meeting. PM Modi reviewed the rescue operations and gave necessary instructions to speed up the recovery process.
The crash site in the Meghaninagar area was filled with wreckage, and officials continued working overnight to clear debris. Police said many bodies were charred beyond recognition, making identification difficult. Six bodies have been handed over to their families so far.
In a tragic update, two crew members from Manipur were also confirmed dead. Former Manipur CM N Biren Singh expressed his deep condolences. Singapore Prime Minister Lawrence Wong also sent a letter of sympathy to PM Modi and the people of India.
Support has poured in from various corners of the country. Congress expressed grief and solidarity with the victims’ families. Mukesh Ambani, chairman of Reliance Industries, also offered full support to the ongoing relief operations.
In another emotional detail, an elderly couple from Maharashtra was on their way to meet their son in London but lost their lives in the crash. Aparna Mahadik, a senior Air India crew member, also died in the crash. She was related to NCP leader Sunil Tatkare.
This tragic incident has left the entire nation in deep sorrow. Investigations are ongoing to find out what led to this shocking accident.
