Pune Godman Radhamohan Mishra Arrested for Years of Abuse, Blackmail and Coercion in Shocking Case

Pune Godman Radhamohan Mishra Case: A chilling case of prolonged manipulation, abuse, and coercion has emerged from Pune’s Wagholi area, where a self-styled godman and his associates were arrested for allegedly sexually exploiting a woman for years under the guise of spiritual authority and divine powers. Police say the accused created an elaborate web of psychological control, turning faith into a tool of intimidation, exploitation, and fear.

Radheshyam Mishra, also known as Radhamohan Mishra, allegedly ran what he described as a “modern gurukul” in Ubale Nagar, where he positioned himself as an incarnation of God. Investigators said his influence over followers grew steadily over the years, allowing him to isolate vulnerable individuals and exert deep control over their personal lives. The most disturbing allegations involve a woman who first came into contact with him around 2010.

Over time, the woman was allegedly cut off from her family and coerced into severing her marriage. Police officials stated that between 2010 and 2016, she was sexually exploited repeatedly while also being subjected to physical torture, including electric shocks. The accused reportedly recorded explicit videos of her, which were later used as a tool for blackmail and continued control.

According to officials, the psychological manipulation extended far beyond physical abuse. The godman Radhamohan Mishra allegedly convinced the woman that he possessed divine powers, using fear and superstition to dominate her decisions. He is also accused of forcing her to consume his urine as part of ritualistic control, further deepening her psychological trauma and dependency.

As the control tightened, investigators say the woman was also compelled to commit thefts to financially benefit Radhamohan Mishra and his ashram. The pattern of exploitation, officials believe, was carefully structured to ensure silence, compliance, and continued obedience through intimidation and emotional dependency.

Police conducted a raid at the so-called gurukul and uncovered what they described as a concealed underground room filled with incriminating materials. A large cache of electronic devices, including 12 laptops, 11 mobile phones, 19 hard drives, pen drives, and cassettes, was seized for forensic analysis. Authorities also recovered ₹6.5 lakh in cash and jewellery worth approximately ₹15 lakh, along with a stock of medicinal pills and suspected drugs, further intensifying the scope of the investigation.

Officials said the seized digital evidence is being thoroughly examined to determine the extent of abuse and identify additional victims. “We suspect more survivors may come forward. We are conducting a detailed investigation and working to gather more evidence,” a police official said, highlighting the possibility that the operation may have involved multiple victims over several years.

Mishra and seven associates, including his close aide identified as “Swami” Kanwal Nayan, were arrested and produced before a court. The court has remanded them in custody till Saturday as investigators continue to build the case. Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies are also probing whether the accused operated a wider network under the guise of spiritual teaching.

The case has once again raised difficult questions about unchecked spiritual fraud, the vulnerability of followers, and the psychological grip such self-styled godmen can exert over individuals. Authorities believe the investigation may expand further as forensic analysis progresses and more testimonies emerge from possible survivors who were exposed to the same environment of control and fear.
