After arriving in Kolkata, Rubio visited the headquarters of the Missionaries of Charity founded by Mother Teresa. From Kolkata, Rubio is scheduled to travel to Agra, Jaipur and New Delhi, where he will hold important discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and senior Indian officials.

Meanwhile, the evolving relationship between the United States and China remains another key concern for India. Rubio is expected to participate in meetings linked to the Quad grouping, which includes India, the United States, Japan and Australia. The alliance is widely viewed as a strategic platform aimed at balancing China’s influence in the Indo-Pacific region.
However, recent developments have complicated the picture. Trump’s latest visit to China and his remarks about closer cooperation between Washington and Beijing have sparked debate among global analysts. His meetings in Beijing reportedly focused on technology partnerships, trade cooperation and rare earth resources, which are considered critical for semiconductor manufacturing and advanced industries.
For India, these changing geopolitical equations make Rubio’s visit even more important. New Delhi wants to strengthen ties with Washington but is also watching carefully to understand America’s long-term regional priorities.
