Greater Noida Newlywed Death: Family Alleges Murder Over Crores Worth Property

The death of a 22-year-old newly married woman in Greater Noida has triggered serious allegations from her family, who claim she was murdered by her husband and in-laws for property worth crores. The young woman had been married for barely three months.

Greater Noida Newlywed Death: Family Alleges Murder Over Crores Worth Property

The victim, identified as Monika Nagar, had married Anuj Chauhan through a court marriage on February 17 after the two had been in a relationship for some time. According to relatives, the marriage initially appeared normal, but the situation soon changed.

Family members allege that Monika owned property worth crores in her name and that her husband’s family began pressuring her to transfer the assets to them shortly after the wedding. A relative, Anil, told reporters that the harassment began within two months of the marriage.

“They married her for money,” he claimed. “She had property worth crores registered in her name, and they kept forcing her to transfer it to them. When she refused, they started torturing her.”

According to the family, Monika made a distress call on Thursday afternoon around 2 pm. During the call, she allegedly told relatives that her husband and his family members were beating her and threatening her life.

The family says she told them she was being forced to transfer land in their name and that she feared she might be killed if she refused. After hearing this, her mother immediately left for her daughter’s residence.

By the time Monika’s mother reached the house around 8 pm, a crowd had already gathered outside. The family claims that in the middle of the commotion, she saw Anuj placing Monika’s body inside a car.

Relatives alleged that when Monika’s mother tried to stop the vehicle, she was attacked. The car then sped away from the spot. The family followed the vehicle to a hospital, where doctors declared Monika dead.

The situation became even more disturbing when the family said they were later informed that Monika’s body had already been cremated. According to them, the police told them about an hour after the incident that the remains had been sent for postmortem examination.

The grieving relatives have questioned how the body could have been burned before a proper investigation was conducted. They also alleged that all the accused persons have gone into hiding.

The family says they spent hours visiting different police stations seeking answers, but claim they received little clarity about what had happened or how severely Monika’s body had been burned.

Meanwhile, officials from Uttar Pradesh Police confirmed that a case has been registered based on the complaint filed by the victim’s family. Police said Monika had earlier informed her brother that she was being assaulted by her husband and in-laws.

Investigators added that both families had been aware of the relationship and had agreed to the court marriage. According to police, teams have now been formed to trace and arrest the accused.

Monika’s family has appealed to Yogi Adityanath to ensure swift action in the case. They have warned that if the accused are not arrested soon, they will stage a protest and sit on dharna until justice is delivered.

The tragic incident has sparked anger among relatives and locals, raising serious questions about domestic harassment, property disputes and the safety of newly married women. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities say further action will depend on the postmortem findings and evidence collected during the probe.
