A playful moment during the festive season turned into a nightmare for a family in the Koradi area of Nagpur, Maharashtra, after a four-year-old boy allegedly suffered severe burn injuries at the hands of his grandmother. The incident, which reportedly took place on March 3 in Ward No. 2 of the Aramshin locality, has shocked residents and triggered police action.

According to officials, Om Harish Wange was playing outside his home with a spray bottle filled with paint. With Holi festivities around, children in many neighborhoods were seen enjoying colors and playful splashes. In the middle of his play, Om accidentally sprayed paint on his grandmother, Sindhu Thackeray, who was filling a bucket with water that had been heated on Holi wood.
Police said the grandmother allegedly lost her temper after the paint landed on her. In a moment of rage, she is accused of pouring the boiling water on the child. The horrifying act was captured on a CCTV camera installed nearby, and the footage is now part of the investigation.
The child suffered severe burns below the waist. Doctors at a private hospital in Nagpur have estimated that he sustained nearly 45 percent burn injuries. Medical experts say such burns are serious and require intensive treatment, careful monitoring, and a long recovery process to prevent complications. The boy remains under medical supervision.
Local police have initiated the process to register an offence against the accused woman. Officers confirmed that statements are being recorded and the CCTV footage is being examined as crucial evidence. Appropriate sections under the law will be invoked following preliminary procedures.
The incident has left the local community stunned. Residents of the Koradi area expressed disbelief that a moment of anger could lead to such devastating consequences. Many have called for strict action, while others stressed the need for emotional control and child safety within households.
