Chandigarh, February 14, 2026 – Popular film actress Himanshi Khurana has reportedly received a shocking extortion email demanding Rs 10 crore. The email contained a voice note, allegedly recorded by a foreign-based gangster, raising serious concerns about the safety of celebrities and the growing reach of international cyber threats.
The email was sent directly to Khurana’s personal email ID, prompting her to file a formal complaint with the authorities. Acting swiftly, the Sohana police station in Mohali registered an FIR under Sections 308(4) and 351(3) of the BNS on Friday. SP (Investigation) Saurav Jindal confirmed that the district police have launched a detailed probe into the matter, focusing on tracing the origin of the email and the accompanying voice message.
Authorities are analyzing digital footprints and coordinating with cybercrime units to determine if the threat has links to international criminal networks. “Protecting citizens, especially public figures, is our priority. We are leaving no stone unturned in tracing the source of this threat,” SP Jindal said.
