At least six people were killed in a tragic road accident on the Yamuna Expressway in Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh after a container truck crashed into a passenger bus, police officials said on Saturday. The collision triggered panic at the scene and left several passengers injured.

According to Mathura Senior Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar, the accident occurred when a speeding container truck rammed into the bus with force, causing severe damage to the vehicle. The impact was so intense that some passengers remained trapped inside the mangled bus, making rescue operations challenging in the initial minutes.
Police teams, highway patrol units, and emergency responders rushed to the spot immediately after receiving information about the crash. The injured were pulled out from the wreckage and shifted to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Traffic movement on the Yamuna Expressway was affected for some time as authorities worked to clear the damaged vehicles and restore normal flow.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the incident and expressed deep condolences to the families of those who lost their lives. The Chief Minister directed district officials to reach the accident site without delay and ensure that relief and rescue operations were carried out swiftly. He also instructed officials to provide proper medical care to the injured.
Officials have started an investigation to determine the exact cause of the accident. Preliminary assessments suggest overspeeding or negligence as possible factors, though police said the situation would become clearer after examining CCTV footage and recording statements of witnesses and the truck driver.
The incident has once again raised concerns over road safety on the Yamuna Expressway, which has witnessed several fatal accidents in the past. Authorities have urged drivers, especially those operating heavy vehicles, to follow traffic rules and speed limits to prevent such tragedies.
