Bollywood actress Mouni Roy, known for her roles in Naagin, Gold, and Made in China, has opened up about a disturbing incident of harassment she faced during a recent event in Karnal, Haryana. The actor shared a detailed account on Instagram on Saturday, describing how the behaviour of some attendees left her humiliated and traumatised.

According to Roy, the harassment began as she walked towards the stage to perform. She alleged that several elderly men, whom she referred to as “uncles,” tried to touch her under the pretext of taking photographs. “Had an event in Karnal last and I’m disgusted with the behaviour of the guests, especially two uncles who are well aged to be grandparents. As the event started and I walked towards the stage, uncles and family members (all men) put their hands on my waist to click pictures…Didn’t like it when I said ‘sir please remove your hand,’” she wrote.

The situation escalated further when Roy got on stage. She claimed that some of the men tried to record her from low angles, made lewd gestures, and called her inappropriate names. Despite politely asking them to stop, the harassment continued, and even attempts by others to intervene were met with abuse. Roy said that she even walked toward the stage exit during her performance but returned to complete it, despite the distress caused by the incident.
The actress expressed how deeply the incident affected her, highlighting the vulnerability of performers who work hard to earn a living through their craft. She urged authorities to take strict action against such behaviour. “We are artists trying to earn an honest living through our craft. Wonder what these men would do if their friends behaved the same with their daughters, sisters or any family members. Shame on you. I love my country, our people, and our traditions, but this? The guts. The entitlement of being men. I never put up anything negative. I go through. But this. Have no words. I am traumatised, humiliated, and want the authorities to take action for this intolerable behaviour,” Roy wrote.
This incident has sparked wider conversations about the safety of celebrities at public events and the importance of ensuring respectful conduct at all times. Roy’s account underscores the need for accountability and protective measures for performers, no matter the size or nature of the event.
The key details of the incident include the location in Karnal, Haryana, and the alleged misconduct by elderly male attendees, which involved inappropriate touching, lewd gestures, low-angle video recording, and verbal abuse. The actress’s public statement emphasizes the emotional impact of such behaviour, highlighting the trauma and humiliation she endured, while calling for strict action from authorities.
Mouni Roy’s revelation has prompted discussions on the need to respect artists and ensure their safety during public appearances. Her candid account not only sheds light on the issue but also serves as a reminder that performers deserve dignity and security in every professional setting.
