More than six months after the sudden death of actor and television personality Shefali Jariwala, a fresh controversy has emerged following statements made by her husband, actor Parag Tyagi. His remarks alleging a possible link between “black magic” and her passing have reignited public debate and drawn widespread attention.

Shefali Jariwala, who rose to fame with her iconic appearance in the music video Kaanta Laga and later became a familiar face on television and reality shows, passed away in June 2025. According to official medical records, the cause of death was cardiac arrest, with no evidence suggesting foul play or supernatural involvement. However, Tyagi’s recent comments have brought renewed focus on the tragic incident.
Speaking on Paras Chhabra’s podcast, Parag Tyagi said his belief was based on personal experience and intuition rather than rumours. He acknowledged that many people do not believe in such forces, but said he strongly feels that negative energies exist alongside faith and divinity. He remarked that people are sometimes more troubled by others’ happiness than their own sorrow, a mindset he believes can lead to harmful intentions.
Tyagi stated that while he cannot name or identify anyone, he feels certain that someone was responsible. He explained that he repeatedly sensed something was wrong, describing moments when he felt an unexplained heaviness around Shefali. According to him, this feeling occurred more than once, and the second time felt particularly intense.
He also spoke about turning towards prayer and devotion during that period. Tyagi said that while engaging in spiritual practices, he noticed subtle changes in Shefali that deeply concerned him. These feelings, he claimed, prompted him to increase religious rituals at home, as he believed something negative was affecting her well-being.
Despite these claims, there has been no official confirmation or investigation supporting the theory of black magic. Medical authorities and official records continue to maintain that Shefali Jariwala’s death was due to cardiac arrest, with no supernatural or criminal angle established.
Parag Tyagi’s statements have triggered mixed reactions on social media. While some people have expressed sympathy for his loss and emotional pain, others have criticised the remarks as speculative and potentially misleading. Many have urged restraint, emphasising the importance of relying on verified facts, especially in cases involving public figures.
As discussions continue, Shefali Jariwala is being remembered by fans and colleagues for her vibrant presence and contribution to the entertainment industry. Authorities, meanwhile, continue to stand by the medical findings, reiterating that her death resulted from natural causes.
