Anmol Bishnoi Being Deported From US; Key Accused in Baba Siddique Murder Case to Arrive in Delhi on Wednesday

Gangster Anmol Bishnoi, a key accused in the murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, is being deported to India from the United States, a senior police official confirmed on Tuesday. Officials expect Bishnoi to land in New Delhi on Wednesday, marking a major breakthrough in the high-profile murder investigation.

Bishnoi is also a wanted accused in the April 2024 firing incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai, making his return to India a significant development for multiple ongoing cases.

Multiple Agencies Await Custody Decision

According to Mumbai Police, two formal proposals seeking Bishnoi’s extradition had earlier been sent to authorities. With several cases registered against him across different states, the Central government will decide which agency gets custody first.

Investigators believe Bishnoi had been frequently shuttling between the US and Canada to evade arrest. Earlier this month, agencies received intelligence that he had been detained in Canada while allegedly carrying a forged Russian passport.

Zeeshan Siddique Confirms Email Notification

NCP leader and former MLA Zeeshan Siddique, son of the late Baba Siddique, told PTI that he received an email confirming that Anmol Bishnoi had been “removed” from the United States.

“This means he is no longer in the US and should be brought to India to face trial for his crimes,”
Zeeshan said.

Background: The Murder That Shocked Maharashtra

Baba Siddique, a prominent political figure and former Maharashtra minister, was shot dead on October 12, 2024, outside his son’s office in Bandra. The murder sent shockwaves across the state’s political circles.

Several individuals linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang—headed by Anmol’s elder brother, currently lodged in prison—have already been arrested in connection with the case.

What Lies Ahead

With Bishnoi expected to arrive in Delhi on Wednesday, security agencies are preparing for a multi-layered interrogation. His custody is likely to provide crucial leads in both the Siddique murder case and the Salman Khan firing investigation.

Authorities believe his deportation represents a major step forward in cracking down on international criminal networks operating from overseas.
