IndiGo, Delhi Airport Issue Travel Advisories

IndiGo Airlines issued a public advisory urging passengers to verify flight timings as services gradually return to normal. “Operational delays are expected as systems reboot. We appreciate your patience,” the airline stated in a #6ETravelUpdate.
Meanwhile, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) remains operational but has implemented heightened security measures. Passengers are being advised to:
- Arrive early due to extended security checks
- Follow airline-specific updates
- Limit carry-on items for faster screening
- Monitor the official airport website for real-time flight information
India-Pakistan Ceasefire After Operation Sindoor
The airspace closures followed Operation Sindoor launched on May 7, where India targeted nine terror camps in Pakistan and PoK in retaliation for the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives. The retaliatory strikes led to heightened military exchanges, including drone incursions and artillery fire from Pakistan.
Following intense backchannel diplomacy, a ceasefire was brokered on May 10. Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed that both nations had agreed to halt military action following DGMO-level talks.
What This Means for Travellers and Trade
The reopening of these airports and air routes is a major relief for thousands of stranded passengers, airlines, and freight carriers. With major hubs like Srinagar, Leh, Amritsar, Chandigarh, and Jammu back in operation, both tourism and business travel are expected to bounce back quickly.
Industry experts believe that full normalization of schedules could take up to 48 hours, depending on air traffic and airline readiness.
