
Mangan, Sikkim – March 16: A tragic accident occurred in Sikkim’s Mangan district on Saturday night when a vehicle carrying ten students of IIT Dhanbad fell into a 100-foot deep gorge near Pakshep in Van Dara. The accident occurred around 9:30 pm when the students were on their way to Gangtok from Lachung, police said on Sunday.
The driver, who also suffered injuries, reportedly lost control of the vehicle, leading to the accident. Four of the injured students were girl students.
Officers rushed to the spot and rescued the victims. Three critically injured students were immediately shifted to a hospital in Gangtok for advanced medical treatment, while the remaining students received medical aid at Mangan.
Local authorities and rescue teams are actively assisting in the relief efforts. The exact cause of the accident is still under investigation.
