Speeding Pickup Truck Kills 6 Workers on Delhi-Mumbai Expressway Near Nuh while five others suffer critical injuries. Police investigation underway.

Nuh (Haryana), April 26, 2025 – A devastating accident shook the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway this Saturday morning as a speeding pickup truck rammed into sanitation workers near Ibrahimbas village under the Ferozpur Jhirka police station area, claiming six lives and leaving five others critically injured.
The tragic incident occurred around 10 AM when a group of 11 sanitation workers was diligently engaged in cleaning duties on the expressway. Eyewitnesses said that a pickup vehicle, driven at a dangerously high speed, lost control and plowed into the workers without warning. The impact was so severe that six workers died instantly at the scene.
Locals, shocked and horrified, quickly alerted the police and assisted in shifting the injured to a nearby hospital. Emergency services, including ambulances, road safety teams, and police units, rushed to the site within minutes. However, the condition of the injured remains critical as per the latest reports.
According to Inspector Aman Singh, SHO of Ferozpur Jhirka police station, the identities of the deceased are still being verified. Preliminary information suggests that five of the deceased were from Kheri Kalan village, and one was a resident of Jhimrawat village.
“We have launched a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident. CCTV footage from nearby areas is being reviewed to understand the circumstances better. The pickup driver fled the scene, but action has been initiated against him,” said Inspector Singh.
The police have registered a case, and teams are working tirelessly to track down the absconding driver. Authorities have assured that strict legal action will be taken against those found responsible.
Growing Concerns Over Road Safety
This heart-wrenching accident once again highlights the rising concerns over speeding vehicles on major highways, especially on newly built corridors like the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway. Workers, who risk their lives to maintain these roads, often lack adequate safety measures, leaving them vulnerable to such tragedies.
Locals and safety activists are now demanding stronger regulations, better enforcement of speed limits, and mandatory protective measures for road workers to prevent similar incidents in the future.
As the families of the deceased mourn their irreplaceable loss, this incident serves as a grim reminder of the urgent need for stricter road discipline and enhanced worker safety protocols across India’s expressways.
