Shubman Gill Appointed New Test Captain: In a major leadership shake-up, Shubman Gill has been officially named the new captain of the Indian Test cricket team. The decision was confirmed by the Ajit Agarkar-led selection panel. Accompanying him in the leadership role, star wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant will take over as the vice-captain.
Gill’s elevation to the captaincy follows his impressive stint with the Gujarat Titans during the ongoing IPL season, where he successfully guided the franchise to the playoffs. His composed leadership and consistent performances with the bat have earned him recognition and trust at the national level.
On the other hand, Rishabh Pant, who made a strong comeback after his injury layoff, has demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities. He recently captained the Lucknow Super Giants and had previously led the Delhi Capitals in earlier IPL seasons, showcasing tactical sharpness and a fearless approach.
The selection signals a new era for Indian Test cricket, with two young and dynamic leaders at the helm.
