Saharanpur CaratLane Showroom Theft Case: In a major breakthrough, Saharanpur’s Sadar Bazaar Police, along with the SWAT surveillance team, have successfully solved a high-profile jewellery theft involving valuables worth nearly ₹3 crore. The theft took place at the Tata-owned CaratLane jewellery showroom located on Delhi Road, sending shockwaves across the city.

After an intense investigation, police arrested five hardened criminals, including the alleged mastermind, and recovered a massive cache of stolen gold and diamond jewellery.
Mastermind Posed as Scrap Dealer to Survey Showroom
According to police officials, the key accused Irshad alias Kala adopted a highly deceptive strategy to execute the crime. For nearly a month, he disguised himself as a scrap dealer (kabadi) and regularly visited the area to conduct reconnaissance without raising suspicion.
Investigators revealed that Irshad carefully studied the showroom’s layout, security systems, and staff movements, patiently waiting for the right opportunity to strike.
Bad Weather Used as Cover for Filmy-Style Break-In
The crime was executed with meticulous planning. One day before the theft, Irshad secretly entered the showroom through the rooftop and spent the entire night hiding inside. The next day, taking advantage of poor weather conditions, he cut through a wall to gain access to the showroom’s jewellery section.
To evade CCTV cameras, he wore a face mask and deliberately pretended to limp while walking, creating confusion during later footage analysis. After collecting gold and diamond ornaments worth crores, he managed to escape undetected.
Entire Family Involved in Selling Stolen Jewellery
During interrogation, police uncovered that the crime was not a solo operation. Irshad’s brother, mother, and sisters-in-law were actively involved in hiding and attempting to sell the stolen jewellery.
The gang planned to distribute the valuables across multiple states, hoping to avoid detection. However, swift coordination between local police and the SWAT surveillance unit led to the arrest of all accused before the jewellery could be fully disposed of.
Huge Recovery of Gold, Diamonds, and Cash
Police confirmed the recovery of hundreds of gold and diamond ornaments, along with a significant amount of cash. The estimated value of the seized items stands at approximately ₹3 crore.
Officials described the recovery as one of the most significant jewellery theft busts in Saharanpur in recent years.
Strong Message from Saharanpur Police
Senior police officers stated that this successful operation sends a clear and strong warning to organized crime networks operating in the region. The precision and speed of the investigation highlight the growing effectiveness of Saharanpur police in tackling complex and high-value crimes.
Further legal proceedings are underway, and police are also probing whether the gang has links to similar thefts in other districts.
