Pastor Arrested in Andhra Pradesh for Alleged Sexual Assault of Minor Girl in Eluru

A disturbing case has surfaced from Eluru district where a 42-year-old pastor has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl and forcing her to take abortion pills. The accused, identified as Chavatapalli Rambabu, was taken into custody after the victim’s parents approached the police with serious allegations.

Pastor Arrested in Andhra Pradesh for Alleged Sexual Assault of Minor Girl in Eluru

According to the complaint, Rambabu had been running a church in Kamavarapukota mandal and had become a familiar figure in the girl’s family over the past two years. The family regularly attended prayer services at the church, and the pastor also visited their home in Kallacheruvu village every Monday to conduct prayer meetings. Over time, the family placed a great deal of trust in him.

The girl’s mother alleged that the pastor sexually assaulted her daughter about three months ago when the minor was alone at home. The girl, a Class 8 student, reportedly remained silent about the incident initially due to fear and confusion.

The matter came to light last week when the teenager suddenly began experiencing heavy bleeding. Worried about her daughter’s condition, the mother took her to a doctor for examination. During the medical check-up, the doctor reportedly asked the girl if anyone had harmed her and assured her that she could speak without fear. It was then that the minor named the pastor.

The girl’s mother further claimed that after the assault, Rambabu had taken the minor to a hospital and allegedly gave her abortion pills. Soon after taking the medication, the girl began bleeding heavily. A medical scan later confirmed that she had been pregnant. The teenager is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Following the complaint, the Andhra Pradesh Police registered a case under the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, which deals with crimes against minors. Officials from the Tadikalapudi Police Station arrested the accused on Sunday, May 10, and began further investigation into the allegations.

The case has also drawn the attention of the Andhra Pradesh State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, which has taken suo motu cognisance of the incident. The commission is expected to monitor the investigation and ensure that proper support is provided to the victim.

Local residents have expressed shock over the allegations, especially because the accused was a religious figure who had gained the trust of many families in the area. Police officials say they are continuing their investigation and will examine all aspects of the case, including the circumstances under which the minor was allegedly given abortion pills.

Growing Concerns Over Child Safety

The incident has sparked concern among residents of the area and child rights activists. Cases involving minors often highlight the importance of awareness, timely reporting, and stronger community vigilance.

Experts say children may remain silent due to fear or social pressure, which makes early intervention and supportive environments crucial.

Authorities have urged families to immediately report any suspected abuse so that swift legal action can be taken.
